Top 3 Things I Learned Posting Everyday for a Month
Last month, I challenged myself to post three videos a day on TikTok and two videos a day on Instagram. Today, I want to share the top three things I learned while I was doing these content challenges.
Lesson 1: Create a process and stick to it.
In order to sustainably post 3 times a day, I had to create processes and use them. I knew that I was going to wake up before work and edit my Day in the Life video from the previous day. I knew that I was going to come home at the end of the day and edit my Photo of the Day so that I could post it. I knew that on workdays, I needed to have my third video ready to go before I went into the office. Knowing this schedule and organizing my time around this routine allowed me to stay consistent and complete these challenges.
Lesson 2: Not all videos require the same amount of effort.
My Day in the Life videos required the most effort. I started filming for them when I woke up, and I had to remember throughout the day to continually film clips in order to have enough content to tell a cohesive story during my editing process. The Photo of the Day videos were a different story. I found that as long as I had my camera with me during the day, it was easy to find something interesting to shoot. I found these quick videos creatively rejuvenating. The third video was a mix. Most of the time, it was something simple. These would often be old footage that I would repurpose. Creating videos of varying length that took varying amounts of effort was helpful to balance my time and energy while outputting so many videos.
Lesson 3: Quantity over quality may not be my path to success.
Let me start by saying this is probably different for everyone, but I found that uploading tons of videos has had no major effect on my growth on either platform. Over the month, I gained about 100 followers on TikTok, and lost about 70 followers on Instagram. While I am happy that I stuck to these challenges, I look forward to focusing on the quality of my posts over the next month and seeing the results that come of that! See y’all next time
