Above the Clouds: Video Pre-Production
Every Aerochase project is divided into 3 parts: the pre-production, production, and post-production. Today I want to walk through Pre-Production for our latest project.
Pre-production on a project is everything that I do to prepare for the day or days of a shoot. In order for a day of shooting to be successful, there’s a lot of work that needs to be completed ahead of time. The first step of the process is an Initial Phone Call.
During the initial phone call I have a few goals:
Understand the client’s goal for the project
Agree on the length & scope of the project
Set a budget range & timeline for the project
After those details are worked out, I can get to work planning the production. For this project, we are creating videos for a digital marketing company in Fort Worth, TX. For each video, we need a script and a shot list before we get to the day of the shoot. The general structure of these videos will be an interview style overlayed with footage to illustrate specific points.
Once we have a script & shot list planned out, I need to make sure I have all the equipment that I need for this shoot. The most important considerations are lighting and audio. Knowing the situation that we will be filming in allows me to be prepared on the day of the shoot.
I like to keep the lines of communication open with a client throughout this process so that they feel ownership of the project with me. As the day of the shoot approaches, I have a check in call to go over the plan, schedule, and expectations. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
