When it was built in 1928, it was the tallest brick building with a steel framework in the world. Although it is not one of the tallest buildings anymore, it is still a staple of the NYC skyline due to it’s unique facade at the top of the building. This photo, taken from 42nd street is meant to highlight the building by isolating it from everything else around it.
